A Someday that Never Came

Image

All that we were

And all that we had

The stormy, the gentle

The good, the bad

A wish that somehow

Things could have stayed the same

An everlasting regret

For a someday that never came.

A plea, a cry

For a life path now lost

Never counting the value

Always mourning the cost

A sharp word, a tear

A shifting of blame

Forever remembering

The someday that never came

A scar that wont fade

A wound still so fresh

An ache never abating

Burnt into the flesh

A thousand momentos

Tossed into  flame

Trying to forget

The someday that never came

A whisper, a promise

Of sunrise once more,

The thrill of finally seeing

Beyond an invisible shore

Till dreams turn to daylight

And longing to shame

Oh please let me forget

The someday that never came.

The someday that never came – so bittersweet – sometimes a good thing and sometimes not. 🙂 a lovely piece – I so enjoy your writing.
