Never Go Away

Broken bottle of perfume

Shards of glass on the floor.

Those can always be swept up

The scent will linger evermore

Written names on the sand

They will be washed away by the tide

But the memory of names will be imprinted

Deep within, inside

The dying scream of an eagle

In a canyon the notes resound

The eagles carcass will wither away

But the echo of the scream will be around

Fingerprints on glass windows

The window may break and shatter

But can you erase those subtle lines?

Those tiny prints that don’t matter

Tears that streak down your face

They will dry on your cheeks as they fall

But the whisper of pain that bought them

Will stay after the sun evaporates them all

Love that fills a heartbeat

The heart may stop at the end of the day

But the memories and laughs and sweetness

Those will never go away
