Wishes and Shooting Stars

Fireworks and whizzing Frisbees,

Blinking lights and candle glow

We all are waiting up for miracles,

Our alarm clocks waiting for them to show

We all want something to believe in

A sign everything will be alright

We hide under covers when the dark comes around

And count hours till daylight

Lava on volcano tops and moonshine

Glowworms and fluttering fireflies

Theres a reason we stand out in the rain

And desperately lift our faces to the skies

A reason we want knights and steeds to exist

To come save us from dragons and towers tall

A reason we all want an escape route

Some place to be away from it all

Traffic lights and lightning streaks

Rocket fire and star flames

We want out of the eternal rat race

We are done playing all the games

That’s why we believe in fairytales

And make wishes on shooting stars

With closed eyes and prayers on lips

We hope they will change who we are
