Solace

Image

We threw the pieces in the fire,

And watched the flames grow even higher,

And in silent memory,

With tears strong and brave,

We sent our past,

To the grave.

We held hands,

Around the light,

No hurt left in us,

No desire to fight,

We threw the pieces in the fire,

And watched the flames grow even higher.

We silently danced,

To the spit and cackle,

Nothing left of our hearts to break,

No feelings to rattle,

We threw the pieces in the fire,

And watched the flames grow even higher.

We celebrated fiercely,

In the shadows,

Our despair muted,

Our anger mellow,

We threw the pieces in the fire,

And watched the flames grow even higher.

All as one,

We took out the letters,

The gifts, the photos,

Anything that mattered,

We threw the pieces in the fire,

And turned away..

As the flames grew higher
