We Remember

We have seen the battle-field,

It is awash in blood,

We have seen the torn bodies,

And we have understood,

The death-pyres have all died,

Into nothing but glowing embers,

Oh cursed enemies..

We will remember

The vultures circle low,

Over bones bleached by the sun,

A soldier looks at the blood on his hands,

and wonders what he’s done,

The broken towers stand forlorn,

Battle-weary and slender,

Oh wretched enemies,

We will remember

The enemy same sharp and swift,

On black horses with red eyes,

Fire came within their wake,

And we watched their flags rise,

The widow with her orphan weeps,

There is none to defend her,

Oh treacherous enemies..

We will remember

Nightingales sing in sweet refrain,

A lament to heroes dead,

But there is no solace,

For the wife who had just wed,

The women gather around the dying,

Sorrowful and tender,

Oh merciless enemies..

We will remember

Our dead are buried, our land rebuilt,

But our scars will never fade,

Our solemn leader pledges war,

And uncovers bloody blade,

We go to burn,pillage,raid

We go to justice render,

Hide oh frightened enemy,

We still remember
